The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Instructor Simulator in Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project- Training department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with roster of 14 days on and 7 days off for fixed term of 2 years.

The primary purpose of this role is to train and coach mining operators on equipment operation skills and safety throughout the operator training program using equipment simulators and assessment programmes as directed by the UG Training Superintendent.

The Simulator Training Instructor will assist with classroom and practical training of underground equipment operators. This position fills a critical role in providing direct training services to mining development equipment operators. This person will be directly improving the skills of mining equipment operators and directly involved in the development and delivery of training that results in ‘Competent’ operators.

What the role entails

  • Conduct and instruct simulation-based training
  • Encompass simulator training curriculum design, development, implementation and evaluation of scenarios and courses
  • Support the development of course curricula with appropriate expertise. Standardize curriculum development and documentation
  • Perform periodic reviews of simulator training programs and writing of summary reports
  • Contribute the development of training materials and evaluation tools
  • Deliver classroom based knowledge courses and assessment, Practical training, and VOCs as required.
  • Ensure all training related documentation is up to date and managed so that it is readily accessible and secure through maintaining an adequate filing system.
  • Participate in training audits and assessments.
  • Evaluate training to ensure our ability to meet the training needs of operators, achieve learning objectives and address the gaps on skills and competency

What you will need for this role

  • Equipment operator certificate
  • Diploma or Cert IV (TAE) workplace, training and assessments or equivalent
  • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in operating mobile equipment
  • Extensive knowledge of simulation services, technologies, and applications
  • Experience working with operators training programs
  • Articulate and conversant speaker
  • Proficiency in computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent Mongolian and English language proficiency both written and orally
