The opportunity

We are looking for one ( 1) Officer Permitting in Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project – Engineering department based at Ulaanbaatar.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide services and support on mine permitting activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team's objectives and targeted plan.

What the role entails


  • Monitor DA delivery of contracted service: translation and approval of DDR, upload of clean files, report submittal and etc;


  • Maintain and monitor the filing system: DDR, Master Permitting Register, Project Management System, translation track, formal correspondence to ensure the standard is maintained and data base for all permits/licenses;


  • Coordinate the work the Permit Team carry out maintaining relationships with permitting authorities and ensure all contact the department has with external permitting authorities goes through the Permit Team;


  • Identify external reporting requirements and collate technical input from subject matter experts within the department;
  • Write department-specific input to cross-functional reports and submit reports as directed by the Permit Team;


  • Facilitate the preparation for audits/inspections and be the point of contact in the department for the Permit Team to coordinate with regarding the schedule for the visit;
  • Coordinate the completion of actions assigned to the department following audits and inspections;


  • Cooperate with OT Risk & Compliance to ensure the department is compliant with internal policies and the department’s input to the Internal Compliance Questionnaire as directed by OT Risk & Compliance.


  • Cooperate with OT Risk & Compliance regarding meeting commitments made in external agreements.

What you will need for this role

  • A university/college major in Law, Business, Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
  • Able to understand and communicate academic and qualification relevant content in more cognitively complex ways;
  • Able to write with increasing length, complexity and abstraction using academic and professional vocabulary and consistent grammatical structures.
  • Strong communications skill to work with a wide range of individuals;
  • Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels;
  • Excellent planning, organizing and negotiation skills;
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Mongolian;
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in the use of databases and MS office applications;
