The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Project Engineer – Electrical in our Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project – Shafts department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster of 2 weeks on and 1 week off.

The purpose of this role is to provide engineers services and support on electrical activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team's objectives and targeted plan. In particular, it focuses on maintaining designs and implements electrical systems and equipment within this function.

What the role entails

  • Performs a variety of routine tasks within discipline that are planned to provide experience & familiarization with the team & the methods, practices, & programs of Rio Tinto.
  • Collects & conducts preliminary analysis of data.
  • Focuses on documentation, monitoring, & testing.
  • Provides straightforward solutions to problems uses readily available, clear, & direct references.
  • Collects & evaluates data, & develops plans for assignments that may involve design application.
  • Conducts simple equipment failure investigation & mitigation.
  • Assist in develops a safety culture whilst ensures that all work undertaken in areas of responsibility comply with exists safety legislation & is in full compliance with applicable HSE standards.
  • Ensures safety standards, processes & procedures are in place & adhered too.
  • Ensures the safety of all fellow team members & that risks are identified, mitigated & managed.

What you will need for this role

  • Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities in Engineering, Mining, Maintenance, Electrical or relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
  • License on handles electrical work or Electrical trades certification;
  • Root Cause Analysis, Defect Elimination trainings are preferred;
  • Valid Drivers license.
  • Able to read, write, understand & communicate large scales of content & information with more sophisticated vocabulary & varied verb tenses in English language;
