Oyu Tolgoi Apprentice trades training

Oyu Tolgoi’s training department recruited 60 new trainees to undertake concentrator training at Darkan Polytechnic College commencing April 20, 2011, in line with Oyu Tolgoi’s training plans to develop a skilled workforce.

This concentrator training programme was developed by American company, PAI, specifically for Oyu Tolgoi and is an animated, computer based training program. Trainers from Darkhan and Erdenet technology school will conduct this training under the guidance of PAI trainers.

Concentrator training is a dual training programme consisting of theory and practical training. The theory classes to be conducted in Darkhan and on the job training to be conducted at Erdenet mining company. The training will continue until March 31, 2012 and each trainee has established a traineeship contract with Oyu Tolgoi LLC. Trainees are provided with accommodation, complete personal protective gear and $250 monthly stipend.

To ensure we provide the best possible learning environment for our trainees, Oyu Tolgoi has purchased and donated 62 new computers, two printers and two projectors to Darkhan Polytechnic College.
